Why Buy a Share?

The Smartest Way to Buy Meat.

A whole or half animal is how ranching families have always stocked their kitchens. It still makes more sense than anything in a grocery store.

💰

Best price per pound we offer

Individual cuts carry retail pricing. Shares bypass the markup — you buy closer to what we actually receive per animal. The savings are real, not promotional.

✂️

Your cut sheet, your way

More ground beef? Thicker steaks? Bone-in everything? You tell us — we don't dictate how your animal gets cut. Every share comes with a custom cut sheet process.

📍

You know exactly where it came from

When you buy a share, you're buying a specific animal from our specific range near Mt. Pleasant, Utah. That level of provenance isn't possible at any grocery chain.

🧊

A full freezer for months

A half beef feeds a family of four for six months or more. All cuts vacuum-sealed and flash-frozen — ready when you are, no last-minute runs for cheap ground beef.

🤝

Direct support for the ranch

Zero middlemen. No broker, no distributor, no retailer. When you buy a share, every dollar goes directly to Circle 7 — which goes back into the land and the herd.

Common Questions

Shares FAQ

What does the 25% deposit cover?
The deposit commits your specific animal to your order and reserves your spot in our August 15 processing schedule. Without a deposit, we cannot hold the animal. Deposits are applied to your total — they're not an extra fee. Deposits are non-refundable once the animal has been committed to processing.
When exactly is the balance due?
The remaining 75% is due when your order is ready — at August 15 pickup, or before it ships. We'll invoice you with the final confirmed weight and total. No surprises, no interim payments.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept credit/debit card, Venmo, and Zelle. Card payments can be processed over the phone or via a secure link we'll send you. Both your deposit and final balance use the same methods.
How much freezer space do I need?
Rule of thumb: 1 cubic foot per 35–40 lbs of meat. A half beef (~242 lbs) needs about 6–7 cubic feet — a standard upright deep freezer handles it. A whole beef (~485 lbs) requires 12–14 cubic feet — plan on two freezers or one large chest. Half hog: ~3 cu ft. Whole lamb: ~2 cu ft.
Can I customize my cut sheet?
Yes — that's the point. After your reservation is confirmed, we'll send you a cut sheet where you specify: steak thickness, roast sizes, ground beef package size (1 lb or 2 lb packs), bone-in vs. boneless, how much you want as stew meat, whether you want organ meats, bones for stock, or any other preference.
What makes the Black Angus corn-finished? Why does it matter?
Corn finishing means the animals spend their final weeks on a high-energy grain diet — which drives deeper intramuscular fat (marbling), more consistent flavor, and the kind of eating experience most people associate with premium beef. Our Angus are ranch-raised on open range, then finished on corn — no shortcuts on either end. This is the same production model used by the programs that define the premium beef market.
What's the difference between hanging weight and take-home weight?
Hanging weight is the carcass weight after slaughter, before trimming and butchering. Take-home (finished) weight is what actually goes in your freezer — roughly 60–65% of hanging weight for beef after trimming, boning, and grinding. All Circle 7 share pricing is based on estimated take-home weight, so what you see is what you get.
Can two families split a whole beef?
Absolutely — and we encourage it. Two families each get a half at the whole-beef price, with each half cut to their own specification. Just submit separate cut sheets and we'll process them as two independent orders from one animal.
Where is the beef processed?
All beef, pork, and lamb is processed at BarW Meats in Nephi, Utah — a USDA-inspected facility. Every pound is federally inspected and certified. Processing follows a scheduled run through July and into August for the 8/15 delivery date.
Is delivery available if I'm not local?
Yes. We ship nationwide with Cryo Ice gel packs for cold chain integrity. Delivery pricing is based on your location and order size — we'll quote you when we confirm your reservation. Local pickup in the Centennial Park / Colorado City area is free.
